Future of News Media
A long but excellent article by steve johnson on the future of news media. I especially like the diagram of the news creation / distribution supply chain.
... another article by clay shirky ... and a third one There is only Us on newsless.org, where I fond this very interesting paragraph:

If a central element of the undoing of the traditional press is unbundling — the diminishing power of jointly packaging advertising and news, the atomization of formerly coherent monopoly news products into info-snippets on blogs and aggregators — a central element of journalism’s renewal will be connection — our ability and responsibility to all play shifting, complementary roles in a potentially vast system of journalism. The transformation will be painful but the long-term future is bright!

Social and Real-time Search
Interesting article on John Battelle's Searchblog describing how Social Networking sites are creeping up on Google as a key source of traffic. I guess Search Engine Marketing will be followed by Social Marketing.
Also, I feel that Search Engines are bound to become more real-time (a good article on the topic). Searching Twitter already gives you a better information on current events. This morning Yahoo mail was down and I searched "Yahoo Mail" on Google - no information on a current issue! I searched on Twitter and found that it was down and the first tweet on the topic was about 1 hour old. So, the issue was not just with my mailbox and I decided to wait.
In my mind, Google should acquire Twitter!

Open Facebook
Very interesting article on O'Reilly Radar encouraging social networks, especially Facebook, to be more open. The internet has made us all understand the value of wide-open collaboration spaces.
